GLOSSARY

Turning

In Chinese porcelain potting only a most basic shape is thrown. The final shape is arrived at by putting it back on the potters wheel after the clasy has arrived at a leather hard state, after about a day. This procedure when the unfired pot is trimmed using various turning tools is called turning or sometimes paring.
