Noshi (Jp.)

Decorative strips. Common panel shape in Japanese decorative art. Usually decorated paper.

Noshi awabe are dried abalone strips. Originally the meat of the abalone shellfish was important as food and a delicacy. Thin strips of abalone, known as noshi awabi, are used as a symbol of food in abundance, especially at weddings.
