GLOSSARY

Porcelain paste

Contrary to a clay the body material porcelain is made of, is called a paste, since it is man made and not made through a natural basic geological process. Ceramic paste refers to the prepared mass that is transformed into a material used in the construction of pottery.

Paste can be fine, medium, or coarse grained, but also described in terms of porosity, quantity of temper, or organic material.
