GLOSSARY

Mottahedeh

Rafi and Mildred Mottahedeh were avid collectors of Asian ceramics and Chinese export porcelain in particular, whose business was producing modern porcelains after antique originals. Many of the pieces in their own collection provided the material for their reproductions. Although some of their pieces have been made in China, most of the reproduction line (beginning I think in the 1950s) has always been made at Vista Allegre in Portugal. All of the Mottahedeh pieces are marked with their name as well as the Vista Allegre factory mark.
