Cheng Yiting (1885-1948) was a member of The Eight Friends of Zhushan, or Full Moon Society, a famous group of painters active in the area of Zhushan, the Pearl Hill, or the highest point of the former Imperial Porcelain factory in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province. He and the other members, Wang Qi, Wang Dafan, Deng Bishan, Xu Zhongnan, Weng Yeiting, Tian Hexian and Liu Yucen, met once per lunar month, on the evening of the full moon.
In 1911, Cheng Yiting attended the Jiangxi Ceramics School in Poyang to study painting with Zhang Xiogeng, before moving to Shanghai and becoming a pupil of Cheng Zhang (1869-1938) of the Zhe School.
