GLOSSARY

Meiping

Name used to describe a tall vase with a narrow mouth on a small neck resting on high and broad shoulders, tapering off to a shallow ring foot, used to display flowering branches, typically flowering plum. The name is from mei meaning plum, and ping meaning vase, because of its shape, which made it suitable for holding a bough of blossoming plum.
