Caddy, Tea-

Container for tea with a tight-fitting cover that keeps the contents fresh. From the late 17th century silver and porcelain canisters were made for storing tealeaves, which were so highly prized that they were sometimes kept under lock and key. These canisters were made in increasing numbers in the 18th century, as tea became more popular.
