Banko ware

Named after a renowned late 18th-century Japanese potter, a type of Japanese pottery including raku ware and Satsuma types (see Satsuma potteries) and decorative patterns taken from Ming Dynasty red and green porcelain. The work was copied in rustic Japan during the 19th and early 20th centuries. (For marks and examples, see Marks Section > Japanese marks > Banko ).
