GLOSSARY

Coil Construction

Coil Construction or coiling is a pottery technique involving the forming and joining of narrow coils of clay or paste to create the walls of a vessel. During the Chinese stone age this was the normal method and is in use up until today for larger vessels. Some porcelain items were made by coiling during the Yuan dynasty (14th century).
