The East Indiaman Götheborg never called at India but several other Swedish ships did. Outward bound they were to call at Suratte to sell the cargo and buy new, there or on the coast, and then go on to Canton to sell the new cargo, and for the price received buy the return cargo to Gothenburg. Such a trip would if successful yield over 100 percent profit to the investors. Several attempts at trading with Bengal was also made.
